Sacred Heart, Saint Ann's and Saint Mary's
Religious Education
FAITH FORMATION
Sacred Heart, St. Ann’s, and St. Mary’s offer three (3) different models of faith formation.
SUMMER PROGRAM
We offer two – two week programs – one in July and the other in August. These sessions are held at Sacred Heart.
FAMILY FAITH
For this program, families meet once a month on Sunday each month from September through March from 9:30-11:30AM at Sacred Heart’s Church Hall. The RCL Faith First textbooks are used throughout the program with the Faith Formation Director teaching one or two of the chapters at the gatherings and families doing the remaining chapters at home and e-mailing quiz results to the Director.
Must fill out Registration form
HOME STUDY
This is a program for those families whose schedules make it impossible to attend either of the above programs. Again the RCL textbook Faith First is used and families read the chapters and do the activities at home. Upon completion of each chapter, the children take a short quiz on line and e-mail the results to the Director of Faith Formation.
Service of some type is a required component of this program as well as attendance at two gatherings a year to review progress and share learning experience
OTHER OPTIONS
Sacred Heart, St. Ann’s, and St. Mary’s will also accept attendance at any of the Faith Formation Classes at any of the Catholic Churches in Auburn. The only requirement is that you notify the Director of Faith Formation at Sacred Heart, St. Ann’s and St. Mary’s.
ADULT EDUCATION
Beginning the 1st Monday of Lent, we will be offering Bible Study at Sacred Heart in conjunction with the Diocese of Rochester’s Spirit Alive initiative. We will meet at 9AM on Monday mornings. All are welcome. Our topic will be "The Passion and Resurrection Narratives of Jesus."
REGISTRATION
Registration forms for the Summer Program, Family Faith, Home Study, Confirmation, First Penance, and First Eucharist are available on this web site.

FIRST PENANCE
According to church guidelines, preparation for First Penance is to take place prior to the reception of First Eucharist. However, due to some wide spread confusion, many children were not prepared before they received First Eucharist. All children from second grade on up, who have not received this sacrament are invited to participate in our preparation.
First Penance preparation
begins in January 2011. The initial Parent Meeting is offered:
Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at 6:30PM at Sacred Heart's Church Hall.
All parents of candidates for are required to attend this meeting. At this
meeting information and material will be distributed to assist parents in
preparing their children for First Penance. The preparation will end with a
Family Retreat that will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2010, from
9:30AM-12:30PM at Sacred Heart’s Church Hall. During the preparation, there will
be sign up sheets available for the normal Saturday afternoon celebration of the
Sacrament of Penance at each church. Children and their families are invited to
celebrate the Sacrament at the time they select. Parents are encouraged to
celebrate the sacrament first to provide a good example for their children.
**If you missed any of these meetings and your child is beyond the 2nd grade,
please call Jan Borromei (252-3439) so that arrangements can be made for you and
your child.
FIRST EUCHARIST
As in all sacraments,
preparation for First Eucharist is based on readiness with the requirements
being: completion of at least one year of Faith Formation, at least seven (7)
years of age, and regular attendance at Mass each weekend.
